Students at Steward School are getting ready for the Big March Madness Tournament of Books. Students are reading and listening to the books read aloud in school and at home. Today classes were found both listening to the story read online and voting for the winner of the book match. Students are excited to add their tally marks to cast their own votes on the smartboard. Classrooms are using Google Slides and Google Forms to cast their vote.

During library classes, Mrs. DeFrank integrates technology across all curriculum areas. During this library class Grade 6 students were using the Chromebooks QR scanner to scan the code to answer questions relating to February themed topics using the site Wonderopolis. Topics included Leap Year, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Groundhog Day, and Valentine’s Chocolate.

Smart Boards are used in many ways throughout the school day. To celebrate World Read Aloud Day Grade 1 students used Skype to visit with author Sue Fliess as she read her book, Ninja Camp. Students in Grade 3 listened to Lauren Magaziner read her make your own adventure book Case Closed.

Grades K and 2 will had this same wonderful experience this week on Wednesday with authors Betsy Devany, Stef Wade, and Jarrett Lerner.

The integration of iPads allows students to see content in action. Grade 5 is finishing a unit of study on plant cells. Using the app QuiverVision students first colored in the picture of the plant cell and then brought that picture to 3D life.

Check out a video of one student sharing all about Plant Cells using this app.
