Which Teacher Do You See?
The sun did not shine
It was too snowy to play
So we sat at school
All that cold, cold, cold day.
I sat there with Mrs. De Frank,
We sat there, we two,
And I said, "How I wish we had something to do!"
And then
Something went BUMP!
How that bump made us jump!
We looked!
Then we saw them appear at our door!
We looked!
And we saw them begin to come, more and more.
We will let the things out of the box.
The game will begin ready or not.
The question will be...

Digital Learning Day
Taking a Test can be Fun!
During the month of March the Third Grade students study the properties of matter. As they were nearing the completion of this science unit I created an assessment using the app Socrative. This app allows teachers to create a quiz online in socrative teacher. This may be done on either an iPad or a computer. The set up was very easy.
Click on the picture to learn more about socrative in the app store. |
On the big day each student had an iPad and signed into the quiz with a code their teacher gave them for this test. It was a fun way to assess students and it was a fun way to take a test.
The program scores the multiple choice test as the students are working and the teacher receives an excel spread sheet with the results. Everyone did a great job and had fun.

Graphing
KidsZone a free online website gives students the ability to input data and create graphs. Mrs. Burke's third graders have been collecting data from their classmates and presenting the data in a visual form. In the lab students used a graphing site to create a digital graph with their data.

School Committee Meeting Sharing Book Creator
At School Committee we had the opportunity to share our Book Creator Projects. Three third grade students, Daniel, Talia, and Noah taught the members of our school committee how to scan a QR code which took them to our blog post with their Pourquoi tales. It was impressive to hear these students talk about app smashing and all the tips they used to write their tales. The students discussed the difference between an e book and a hard copy book. They all are in favor of using iPads because it makes writing easier and they love the fact that sound can be added into their book.
